Shopping the kids department...oh no, she didn't

One of the perks (pitfalls) of being petite (a little person) is perusing the kids department.
Especially when certain trends are in: Peasant blouses, to the knee skirts, babydoll empire waists, all are found easily (and on the cheap) in local kid's sections.
What I'm loving right now.

The good old days?

Recent changes in my life have me thinking...which isn't always a good thing.
Things seemed much simpler as a youngin'.
No mortgage. No real responsibility. All fun and games.
I reminisce...dancing late into the night with my girlfriends. Rebelling. Against parents, teachers, society, really any authority.
Me, Amy and Wesley = Teen angst trouble
The rest of our girl gang
Back to reality, being a teen was horrible. Not knowing your place in the world, living with your parents, being insecure and unsure....not so fun.
If I could only live now with some of the teen trouble-free ideals. Not having to worry about life, money, my kids getting hurt, real-world issues.
I am happy as an adult and will (try) not to let life bring me down. Word up.

Fall-ing

It's finally cooler here in Inferno, TX. Outdoor outings and sunny days filled with my sweet kiddos and friends keep me happy.

Nook Re-do

I have a semi-awkward space (nook?) in my living room. It is leading to the kitchen and was probably intended to be the formal dining area.
I'm imagining it wasn't awkward to the previous owners, who had a baby grand piano there. Or the owners before that, who were truck drivers, on the road 10 months out of the year and left the house "Silence of the Lambs" scary. But, I digress....
Scoping some of my faves sights for design inspiration.
Before.

Thinking it might be fun to turn said nook into a bar area...with mid-century modern Danish bar cart and some Phillipe Starck ghost chairs for seating. Then, the Eames lounger can move into the master bedroom! A girl can dream...

If Purses Grew on Trees...make that Vintage Purses

Quite possibly the chicest picture of anyone carrying the "Bagonghi" Roberta
Who doesn't love LIZ?
Everyone knows I love vintage anything and everything....cars, clothes, homes, purses, decor, etc.
This is no shock to people who know me. I was born in the wrong era.
I challenged myself to pick my 6 top vintage bags that I reach for again and again.
They are not necessarily the most expensive or rare. Bags are like stepping back in time for me. I save receipts in them of where they were last carried...was it dinner at Cafe Madrid? A movie with the girls? I like to remember these fun times.
I also try to save receipts of where I stumbled upon and bought said treasures.
I will share that with you!
